Parenting Styles

No time to eloquently elaborate on the hilarity/truth of this article by Nancy Gibbs published today on Time.com: "Can These Parents Be Saved?"

Just had to post! It is VERY much something that I might have sat down and written myself.

I do, however, have time to say: "When I have children, my sons will wear pink until they tell me they don't want to anymore (if ever.) All of my children will have vegetables available for their consumption at breakfast. Scraped knees, smashed fingers and busted lips will not be cause for concern (but will be tended to affectionately.) My daughters will wear"boys" pants until around 10-years-old-ish (have you seen the "sexy" way they tailor clothes for little girls these days? Shameful! Little boys clothes are essentially the same pants but tailored to be less form fitting...ideal for an active child.) And the greatest gift I will ever give my children will be to love and respect their father as he will love and respect me - with all of our hearts."

Truth be told, I have extremely strong opinions in my real life on most topics. And I am certain that some of them will come out in my blog from time to time (see evidence in rant above.) After all, this is my virtual "Soapbox." However, I left a comment today on a blog I frequent: A Baby...Maybe, and I feel that something I said there is worth repeating.

"Parenting. It's not one size fits all."

What may or may not work for me, is just that...and that alone.

  1. I do realize that there is not a one size fits all, and in all honesty what I did post was a link to something I agreed with in theory. A theory that I have applied to my own parenting.

Truth be told I should have read the link more carefully, but I didn't and I got called out on it.

    Whatevs.
