Small Steps for the Benefit of Tiny Little Feet

In the past few years I have become increasingly aware of materials and products in our everyday lives which are causing harm to our future generations.

Knowledge can be the key to a healthier child and a healthier future.

So why not take a peek?

If you are interested in learning more, I would like to be that "friend" who helps point you towards the small changes that add up and make a big difference.

First Step: Check out the non-profit organization Healthy Child Healthy World.

Still interested?

Second Step: I would like to introduce you to the Environmental Working Group and a few of their very helpful sites:

1. Everyday Pollution Solutions. Easy ideas for keeping pollution out of your body and your home.

2. Cosmetic Database. Find out if your beauty/personal products contain ingredients known to cause infertility and/or cancer.

3. Which Sunscreens Are Best? Think your go-to-sunblock actually works? Check out what they found. Some sunscreens actually cause more harm than good!

4. Children's Bath Products. I don't know about you, but I do not want my child's little bottom bathing in products that might cause him/her harm. I will opt for a safer alternative any day of the week. Just because it says "natural" or "non-toxic" doesn't mean jack-sh**.

5. Look Up Your Cell Phone. How much radiation are you holding up to your brain as you eagerly chat about the latest celebrity gossip? ::blush:: I am totally guilty of this far more than I would like to admit.

ISC Product Endorsement: Klean Kanteen.
(No, I am not being paid for this. Like they even know I exist! Phsaw!) I have about seven various containers from Klean Kanteen and I absolutely love them. This winter they just came out with an insulated thermos that I use for hot beverages (or even food...) Unlike most insulated travel mugs, theirs is not lined with that rubbery plastic made of god-only-knows-what. Actually, someone other than god probably knows what it's lined with...

With the goal of creating a safer environment for children to thrive: Do you have a helpful product or go-to-source that you care to share?

  1. This was amazing! The video truly touched my heart. I don't have a child (yet) but a 7 year old brother so I am definitely for making the world better for him.

  2. Yay for you and your phone!

How much we hold radiation to our heads is definitely something to think about...

Also, where you keep your phone while you're NOT using it is something to consider as well. I used to keep my phone in my pocket while I sat in class so I could feel it vibrate when it rang but it wouldn't make a sound for anyone else...but then I got to thinking, "Am I TRYING to radiate my ovaries?!?!" I haven't even got a chance to attempt and use them and I may have already caused them unnecessary stress, or harm. ::cringe::

Now I turn my phone off and keep it in my backpack during class.

    :)

  3. Thanks for all the links! I get so paranoid about my kids being poisoned by something.

Totally off subject here, but did you make the girl in your header? I've been trying to find a similar image for my blog. Any image I find of a girl with her finger up to her lips is slutty. I don't want that, I want something like yours!
